Haman (think Jafar with a worse beard) was right-hand man to the King of ancient Persia, circa 500 BCE. When the Jews refused to indulge Haman's god complex, he architected a genocide to wipe them out entirely.
In a twist of events, the Jews carried out a Dateline-worthy sting operation that stopped Haman before he had a chance to begin, and they named the world's most savage pastry after him: a shortbread-crust, filling-stuffed, triangle-shaped f***-you to oppression, injustice, and every villain who thought we’d stay quiet.
